Slotted chainring-nut counterhold
This tool needs an accessible matching slotted nut. Confirm the actual nut arrangement before adding it to the kit.
What this choice changes
The CNW-2 is useful when the slotted nut on one side of a chainring bolt turns with the bolt instead of staying still. It holds the nut while you operate the appropriate driver on the opposite side. This makes it a complementary tool to the bolt driver, rather than another way to engage a direct-mount chainring lockring.
Its two ends offer different tip widths for fitting the nut slots. Both have a nominal 12 mm outer width; the individual tips are 2.7 mm at one end and 3.8 mm at the other, with a nominal 1.35 mm blade thickness. Those contact dimensions help you compare the slot and access instead of assuming that every chainring bolt system accepts the same counterhold.
Choose it for the matching slotted-nut arrangement described by Park Tool. The supplied item is one wrench; chainring bolts, nuts and their driving tool are separate. Use the component’s tightening instructions, since this small counterhold does not measure the applied torque.

The counterhold prevents the nut turning; a separate correct driver turns and tightens the bolt.
On a matching slotted-nut assembly, the nut can turn with the bolt. The CNW-2 provides a counterhold while the separate bolt driver turns.
They are widths of the individual engagement tips at the tool’s ends, not the bolt diameter or hex-key size.
They serve different fasteners. The CNW-2 holds slotted chainring nuts; LRT-4 engages a specific direct-mount chainring lockring.
