Specified SunTour four-notch freewheels
A similar overall diameter is not enough if the notch pattern differs. Use the actual four-notch fitting and exact freewheel identification.
What this choice changes
The FR-3 addresses the SunTour four-notch freewheel interface, rather than the two-notch fitting served by the FR-2. Four projecting contacts around the tool engage that receiving system. Identify the freewheel’s actual fitting before buying; the tools are not interchangeable just because the same manufacturer name appears in both descriptions.
Park Tool identifies four-notch SunTour freewheels from 1986 onward in its fit guidance, with approximately 24 mm outside contact and 10 mm central axle clearance. The tool’s one-inch base supplies the driving flats, not a built-in handle. A suitable driving tool and the applicable retention arrangement remain separate choices.

The remover, its driving wrench and any retention hardware have different roles. A use photograph does not make them one supplied kit.
No. The exact four-notch system is the relevant feature. The two-notch system uses FR-2, and other receiving patterns require their own tool.
This reference is a remover socket with one-inch driving flats. A compatible separate wrench, socket or vise arrangement is required for the intended driving role.
