Load slotted nipples before final tensioning
The ND-1 is for the initial nipple-threading stage of wheel assembly. Its hollow-ground centering tip drives a compatible conventional slotted nipple, then disengages as the spoke approaches. That reference helps define a starting position; it does not establish equal final spoke tension or replace the final adjustment and measurement stages.
Park Tool gives a 6.3 × 1.2 mm driver end and 1.3 mm centering projection, with rim depth up to 50 mm. The projection and driver-end dimensions describe different contacts. Check nipple-slot fit and rim access together instead of selecting it simply because a wheel uses ordinary spokes.
The dual-density grip and bronze bushings are part of the manual operating format. Choose it when you are assembling a wheel and repeatedly loading compatible nipples. A correctly fitting spoke wrench, tension meter and dishing check remain separate parts of finishing the wheel.
