12-spline lockring contact
The main choice versus FR-5.2 is a supplied handle rather than a bare socket, together with the different bore. It is not a second spline standard.
What this choice changes
The FR-5.2H combines its lockring contact with an operating handle. Choose it when that complete driving format suits your setup; compare the bare FR-5.2 socket when you want to supply your own appropriate drive. Both use the same working spline family, so the handle does not create a different cassette standard.
Park Tool identifies the contact as twelve splines at approximately 23.4 mm across, with a 20 mm through bore. That bore is a useful difference from the 12 mm center clearance quoted for the bare FR-5.2. Check the actual axle or quick-release hardware as well as the component fitting; clearance for many nuts does not establish clearance for every assembly.
For cassette removal, a compatible counterhold still supplies the holding side of the job. The long handle turns the driver; it does not restrain the cassette, indicate a tightening torque or include a separate cassette plier. Use the component’s exact fitting and service requirements to choose the complete arrangement.

The main choice versus FR-5.2 is a supplied handle rather than a bare socket, together with the different bore. It is not a second spline standard.
The lockring fitting and the cassette counterhold each need to suit their own component. A handle cannot make a mismatched lockring interface fit.
For the supported cassette-removal job, the lockring tool and the counterhold perform different tasks. Select the appropriate holding tool separately.
No. The manufacturer describes clearance for most quick-release nuts. Match the actual hardware and clearance rather than turning the 20 mm figure into a universal fit claim.
It provides an operating handle, not a torque measurement. Follow the exact component requirements and use an appropriate measuring arrangement when the procedure calls for one.
Separate the surface that touches the bicycle from the interface that accepts your wrench, then check access and any required retaining accessory.
