Cassette restraint through a chain section
A chain section, spring-return jaws and adjustable locking jaws are alternative ways of holding a supported cassette. Select the actual cog fit and operating format that suit the job.
What this choice changes
The SR-12.2 provides the holding side of cassette work through a chain section placed on a supported cog. That contact differs from squeezing the cog with cassette pliers. Compare it with the CP-1.2 if you prefer a spring-return plier format, or the Vise Whip II if its adjustable locking contact is the feature you need.
The opposite end has a one-inch box for a separately compatible remover. It is useful to recognize both ends without treating the same piece of metal as two independent tools: the cassette holding-and-turning task still calls for an appropriate separate lockring driver. A socket shown in the source use photograph is not included in the chain-whip offer.
The selected listing states 7–12-speed cassette use and 3/32 inch single-speed cogs. Park Tool’s current exact-model page also names 13-speed cassette use. Confirm the applicable supplied revision for that additional scope rather than silently extending the listing’s range.

The one-inch box end does not mean a remover socket is supplied or that the tool supplies two independent handles at once.
They perform a comparable holding task through different contacts: a flexible chain section here, direct plier engagement on CP-1.2, and adjustable locking jaws on Vise Whip II.
The current maker page names that scope, while this listing states 7–12. Confirm the supplied SR-12.2 revision and the actual cassette before choosing it for the extra speed range.
