Choosing within this department
Brake, cable & hose tools
Rotor alignment, piston positioning, steel-cable cutting and hydraulic-hose preparation require different contacts. Begin with the brake maker’s service requirements and the operation you intend to perform. Then choose a tool that adds that function, with the right blade, pressing contact or fitting support.
Separate a rotor correction tool from its reference gauge
DT-2.2, Pedro’s Disc Wrench II and the Feedback Rotor Truing Fork 2.0 offer different rotor-engagement and handling formats. Compare their stated contacts with the rotor and the required access. A wider-looking fork is not evidence that more force or every rotor construction is permitted.
DT-3 is a rotor truing gauge used with its documented stand arrangement. It provides a reference for the measurement task, not the same purchase as a handheld correction fork. Choose it when the compatible support arrangement is already part of the plan; it is not a complete truing stand or an included dial indicator.

Identify the brake contact and service stage
The SRAM Ultimate Piston Press, PP-1.2, PS-1 and Unior 1757/2DP-US differ in contact shape and intended piston or pad-spreading role. Choose from the exact supported brake arrangement rather than treating all of them as a universal thin lever.
The Dymoece gap regulators address a spacing or setup role. They do not supply a brake-specific permission to force pistons back, and a spacing accessory is not automatically a transport block or bleeding tool. Keep the selected product’s actual purpose with its comparison.

Choose the cutter for the material
CN-10 is for its documented cable and housing work. Jagwire WST033 and WST064 are dedicated hydraulic-hose cutters with different constructions: compact versus lever-operated. Compare the material to be cut and the handling format you need. A hydraulic-hose cutter is not a substitute for a steel-cable cutter simply because both fit in a tool tray.
Shimano TL-BH62 combines supported hose cutting and insert installation and lists a replacement blade. Jagwire WST026 and Park HBT-1 focus on their named insert or barb-installation tasks. Match the actual fitting and hose scope; the tools do not supply unspecified fluid, olives or hose inserts.

Plan routing as a related, separate purchase
Getting a cable or hose through the frame is a different problem from cutting it or installing an insert. Compare IR-1.3 and Jagwire WST050 in the frame and fork department for their actual retrieval system and connector adapters. IR-1.3 names an EW-SD300 fitting; do not transfer that fit to an unrelated routing tool.
Before ordering several tools, list the contacts required at each stage: routing adapter, cutter, supported insertion fitting and any separate brake-service equipment. This makes it easier to buy the missing item rather than a second tool for a job already covered.

Questions before you choose
Can one cutter prepare both a steel control cable and a hydraulic hose?
Compare the documented material scope of the selected cutter. CN-10 and dedicated hydraulic-hose cutters are listed for different jobs; do not infer steel-cable capability from a hose-cutting blade.
What does TL-BH62 add over a hose cutter?
It combines its supported cutting and insert-installation operations. Check the exact hose and insert scope before choosing it instead of a cutter plus separate insertion tool.
Does a rotor gauge replace a rotor truing fork?
No. DT-3 provides a reference in its documented support arrangement. A correction tool makes a different contact, and the brake maker’s service limits still apply.
Where should I look if the hose is already cut but difficult to route?
Compare the frame-routing kits by retrieval arrangement and connector fitting. The cutter and insert tool do not establish that the hose or electronic connector can pass through the frame.
