Choose Bearing, Crown-Race and Steerer Interfaces as a System

Separate removal from installation, identify the force contact and check which press, drift or guide is actually supplied.

Name the part and the direction of the job

A crown race sits at the fork, a headset cup sits in the frame and a press-fit bottom bracket has its own contacts. Start with the actual part to be removed or installed. Nominal fork or spindle labels help identify a system but do not replace the working-contact measurements.

CRP-2 and YC-1859 address crown-race removal. RT-1 passes through the frame to engage supported cups from inside. A tool intended for one contact does not become suitable for the other because both are described as headset tools.

Check removal access and the surface you want to preserve

CRP-2 has independently positioned blade contacts and a documented possibility of cosmetic scarring. Consider that limitation if preserving the finish is central to the choice. Clearance under and around the race matters as well as its nominal size.

For a hub-bearing puller such as LEBYCLE TS-HBT-11, the listed contact diameters are only part of the decision. The actual access and assembly path for the selected arrangement must also be established. An inner diameter alone does not promise extraction of every bearing with that label.

Distinguish a press assembly from a set of bushings

BBT-90.3 includes a remover and two installation bushings for its stated press-fit bottom-bracket applications. The bushings are contacts used with separate pressing equipment; Park Tool identifies HHP-2 or HHP-3. That is useful if you already own the appropriate press, but not a complete first-time pressing setup by itself.

HHP-2 supplies the press assembly and stepped adapters, with a maximum working length of 315 mm. Check the working span, component access and appropriate contacts separately. The BBT-90.3 bushings remain a separate purchase for that documented combination.

Choose crown-race and star-nut tools for different installations

CRS-1 provides a setting tube and six drifts for its stated crown-race base and SHIS scope. The relevant contact is not established by the upper steerer label alone. Compare the actual race base and permitted setting arrangement.

TNS-1 and guided TNS-4 instead position their supported M6 star nuts. Neither installs an expansion plug, and neither grants blanket permission for every carbon steerer. TNS-1 is specified for a 15 mm setting depth. Compare TNS-4 by its own guided arrangement rather than assuming that the two tools establish an identical stop depth.

Treat a cutting guide as one part of a separate setup

SG-8 guides a suitable carbon-specific blade within its stated round-tube scope. It does not supply the saw, blade or vise. Compare those separate requirements before deciding that a guide completes the job.

The component maker’s permission and cutting requirements remain a separate check. A tube fitting the guide does not authorize the work, just as a press span does not establish the correct force contact. Buy the complete arrangement only after both the tool interface and the component requirements are known.

Questions before you choose

What completes the BBT-90.3 installation arrangement?

A supported separate press, such as the named HHP-2 or HHP-3, together with the supplied bushings and an actual bottom bracket within the documented scope.

Can I choose a crown-race setter from the upper steerer diameter alone?

No. Match the race base and tool contact as well as column length and the permitted installation arrangement. CRS-1’s supplied drifts have a specific scope.

What is missing from a saw-guide purchase?

SG-8 does not supply the saw, suitable blade or vise. The component must also permit the intended work; physical fit in the guide does not establish that permission.
